Good work at Peanut Fest

It hardly seems possible to get more than 100,000 people together in one place over the course of a weekend without encountering some significant problems. Yet that’s exactly what happened at Peanut Fest this weekend, and the success comes down to the hard work and intensive planning on the part of a small army of volunteers and just a pair of paid employees.

Organizers were blessed with almost perfect weather for a fall festival — a bit cool and breezy, with only minor showers on Saturday morning and cloudy to clear skies throughout the rest of the event. Comfortably navigating the festival grounds required only a light windbreaker, even for the most cold-natured attendees, but it was cool enough to remind folks they were enjoying a festival that honors a fall crop.

Police reported no major incidents at the event, which is something of an accomplishment in itself for a festival as sprawling and popular as Peanut Fest. And the folks who attended seemed more than generally satisfied with the entertainment, the food and the amusements available for their enjoyment.
