Theodore John Walaszczyk

Theodore John Walaszczyk, 86, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015. Teddy was a lifelong resident of Weirton, W.Va., spending the last two months in Suffolk.

Teddy was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Marilyn “Pinky” Miser Walaszczyk, and his son, John Ronald Walaszczyk. He is the son of John Walaszczyk and Mary Zobeleski Walaszczyk, also deceased. Teddy is survived by his daughters, Claire Richmond Fields, of McLean, and Diane W. Nelms (Robert), of Suffolk, as well as his son, John Richmond (Lucy), of Monterey, Calif., and grandchildren, John Richmond and Celeste Richmond, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Harrison B. Nelms, of Virginia Beach; and his very special friend, Roberta “Robbie” France of Steubenville, Ohio.

Ted was an Army veteran of the Korean War and retired from Weirton Steel Corporation after 45 years. He was an inductee of the West Virginia Football Hall of Fame.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk. A visitation will also be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main St., Weirton, W.Va. A service will be held at Union Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio, Sunday Oct. 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. with interment to follow. Condolences may be offered at www.RWBakerFH.com.
