Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
Tanner Jackson, junior for Nansemond-Suffolk Academy soccer: He fueled the offense that helped the Saints have a 2-0 week, extending their win streak to five games and improving them to 5-1 on the season. He contributed two goals to both Friday’s 4-0 home win over Williamsburg Christian Academy and Tuesday’s 2-0 road win over Peninsula Catholic High School.
Colby Williams, senior for Nansemond River High School football: He was a standout on a defensive unit that helped the Warriors pull away for a 38-3 home-opening victory over visiting Deep Creek High School on Friday night. He intercepted the Hornets twice. One pick came in the end zone, and the other he returned 37 yards for a touchdown.
