Joshua “Josh” Austin Kennedy, 27, passed away on Sept. 17, 2015, in Suffolk.

A Suffolk native, Josh was the son of Kevin K. Kennedy and Donna P. Huneycutt and husband, Fairren. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Shelby Gordon Putman. He was a member of Oakland Christian Church.

Josh never met a stranger and loved his friends like family. He was very eager to start a family of his own. He was an excellent fisherman with a great love for being on the water, as well as the beach. He enjoyed construction work, and took pride in learning his craft. Josh loved his dog, Rock.

Besides his parents, Josh is survived by his brothers, Noah Huneycutt, Nick Huneycutt (Sandy), Chris Huneycutt (Lindsay); grandmother, Dorothy P. Kennedy; grandfather, Harold “Jerry” Putman; girlfriend, Leanne Hundley; nephews, Dylan Huneycutt, Cayden Huneycutt, Lexton Huneycutt; niece, Leah Huneycutt; and his best friend, Ryan Demsko.

We lost our beloved son, brother and grandson to addiction. We would like to thank his many friends who looked out for him and tried to help him during his battle.

A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Gregory Ryan at Oakland Christian Church, 5641 Godwin Blvd., Suffolk, with the burial following at Newman Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co.
