An accident involving a Suffolk Public School bus and a passenger vehicle Tuesday afternoon resulted in no injuries, but it shook up the afternoon commute for 43 students.
There are no reported injuries, but the bus will likely be totaled, said Bethanne Bradshaw, a spokeswoman for Suffolk Public Schools.
The crash was reported at 4:26 p.m. in the 4000 block of Pughsville Road. The bus was transporting students home from Creekside Elementary School, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and reported no injuries to the students, the bus driver or the occupants of the car.
Some students’ parents arrived on the scene to pick their children up and take them home. Other students were transferred to another bus for the drive home, Klink stated.
The road was closed for part of the evening as police investigated and cleaned up the wreck.
A message was sent out to the parents of the students on the bus, Bradshaw said. She added that the principal of Creekside Elementary School would also be contacting parents Tuesday night to follow up.
