Police captured a man in Suffolk on Thursday who had been wanted on a series of felony charges for nearly a year and a half.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Chesapeake Criminal Apprehension Unit arrested Michael Anthony Greene, 30, at a home in the 1200 block of Kansas Street following several days of surveillance at the location, officials announced in a press release on Friday.

On March 31, 2014, Greene was charged with breaking and entering, robbery, abduction and kidnapping, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Greene failed to appear in court for hearings related to the charges, and the Portsmouth Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest in April. The fugitive task force then took the case in May.

After receiving information that Greene had been staying with an associate at the residence in Suffolk, task force members staked out the location for several days, according to the release. At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, officers saw Greene being dropped off by a vehicle at the home, and police surrounded the building.

When officers knocked on the door, a female resident answered and said Greene was not at home, according to the release, which stated that officers then called for Greene to come out of the home. When he refused, police said, they forced their way into the home, found Greene hiding in a back bedroom and then took him into custody.

Greene is being held at the Portsmouth City Jail.
