Mizell graduates basic training

Army Pvt. Jalisa M. Mizell has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition, core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons and chemical warfare. He completed field exercises in bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, basic first aid and foot marches.
Mizell is the daughter of Alvento Saunders, granddaughter of Alphonsa Saunders, and niece of Roscoe Saunders, all of Suffolk.
She is a 2013 graduate of King’s Fork High School.
