Local groomer Stephanie Smith recently competed in and won a creative grooming competition in Mebane, N.C.

Smith, who has been in the grooming industry for 20 years, has a house-call pet styling business called The Color of Daugge, which comes to clients’ homes to groom and bathe their pets.

In addition to competing in grooming contests, Smith gets the opportunity to attend seminars from industry leaders and veterinarians, test new products and learn improved safety skills, techniques and handling during grooming shows, she said.

Her next goal is to become certified for pet CPR at her next show.
