Two arrested in thefts from vehicles

Suffolk Police have arrested two men following investigations into the recent rash of thefts from vehicles in the Lakeside and Riverview neighborhoods.

Multiple reports of unknown subjects tampering with vehicles in numerous downtown communities were received over the last several weeks, with citizens reporting various items stolen from their vehicles, according to a city press release.

Dorian McLaughlin, 19, of Suffolk, was arrested and charged with six counts of petit larceny and 14 counts of entering the vehicle of another to commit a crime. These charges are a result of 14 vehicles entered at 10 different locations, for a total of 20 charges, according to the release. Additional charges are pending. McLaughlin is currently being held at Western Tidewater Regional Jail.

Daylan Wilkins, 18, of Suffolk, was arrested and charged with one count of grand larceny, eight counts of petit larceny and 16 counts of entering the vehicle of another to commit a crime. These charges are a result of 17 vehicles entered at 13 locations, for a total of 26 charges with additional charges pending. Wilkins has posted bond.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending, according to the release.
