TowneBank has donated $250,000 to the capital campaign of Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia.

TowneBank President Morgan Davis presented the check to Anne Conner and Joe Frank, who accepted on behalf of Goodwill. Conner and Frank serve as co-chairs for Goodwill’s Capital Campaign, and Frank also serves on Goodwill’s Board.

TowneBank has been a supporter of Goodwill’s mission in Hampton Roads for many years, officials at Goodwill stated in a press release announcing the donation.

“At TowneBank, we strive to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, not only through our member relationships, but also by supporting initiatives that matter to those communities,” Davis stated in the release. “Goodwill addresses a significant issue — unemployment — and we are proud to help them expand their impact.”

Goodwill’s focus since 1923 has been on providing career development and vocational job training programs to individuals with disabilities and other obstacles to employment.

Goodwill launched its Capital Campaign in 2014 and hopes it will provide funding to build a Community Employment Center in Hampton and renovate an existing center in Richmond in order to serve an additional 8,300 people annually, in addition to the 16,000 who already participate in Goodwill’s job training and career development programs each year.

Goodwill operates 32 retail stores in its territory, which spans 39 counties in Hampton Roads and Central Virginia. Goodwill’s business generates revenues to fund its mission of providing job training programs and career development services to individuals with obstacles to employment.
