A 10-year-old was taken to the hospital on Tuesday after being struck by a Jeep SUV in downtown Suffolk.

The accident happened in the 300 block of West Washington Street at 5:17 p.m. The boy was riding his bike and was struck by a black Jeep SUV, which stayed on the scene.

The boy’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to a city press release. He was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital.

The accident remains under investigation.
