Leon Goodman departed this life peacefully June 23, 2015. He was born in Waterbury, Conn., on Sept. 19, 1929, to the late David and Clara Goodman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine V. Goodman.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of the East Suffolk Gardens Civic League and former president of the East Suffolk Civic League. He was a former employee of the Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, Pa., and the Suffolk city schools.

Leon is survived by a son, Horace E. Goodman; one uncle, Abram Saunders, of Gates County, N.C.; a devoted cousin, William H. Goodman, of Suffolk; and a host of cousins and friends.

Mr. Goodman will be on view from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the funeral home. Friends and family may visit 511 Reed Court, Suffolk, at all other times. Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church in Corapeake, N.C., with the Rev. Dr. Claude M. Odom officiating.
