A Chesapeake woman was arrested this week on a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police say she left her 16-year-old son by the side of the road in Suffolk.

On May 16, an officer was dispatched to the 2700 block of Godwin Boulevard. The teen told police he and his mother, Tina Marie Tyson, were having a verbal argument while she was driving, and she made him exit the vehicle and then returned to their residence in Chesapeake, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

When contacted, the mother told police she had no money for gasoline to return to pick him up, according to Klink.
