City employee pay delayed

The city’s financial institution spent Friday working to get some city employees their paychecks after employees complained their pay did not show up in their bank accounts Friday as scheduled.
City spokeswoman Diana Klink said she did not know how exactly many employees were affected. At least some of those affected were firefighters.
An email was sent to all city employees at 7:35 a.m. Friday advising them that the city was looking into the issue.
An email followed shortly after noon providing an update.
“We have been working with the city’s banking institution, SunTrust, to determine what occurred and correct it as soon as possible,” the email read. “SunTrust is in the process of notifying all affected banking institutions to authorize the release of payroll funds today, as planned. We anticipate that this will correct the issue.”
The email does not say why the issue occurred, and neither did Klink.
The second email did apologize for the inconvenience and thank employees for their patience and understanding.
