HAMPTON – A jam-packed, seven-race lineup is on tap for this Saturday as Langley Speedway continues its 2009 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series schedule with Whelen Fire/EMS Night.

Saturday’s feature slate includes: Crossroads Fuel Service Late Model Stock Cars (100 laps); B&C Seafood Modifieds (50 laps); Old Point National Bank Grand Stocks (40 laps); Atlantic Power Sweeping Super Streets (50 laps); Casey Cycle City INEX Legends (25 laps); Standard Welding Pro 6s (30 laps); and, Rhonnda Claiborne, Realtor HRKC Pro Winged Champ Karts (20 laps).

Front gates open at 1 p.m. Afternoon practice rounds get under way at 2. Time trials begin at 4:30. Pre-race activities begin at 6:30 and the Champ Karts kick off the evening’s feature program, shortly after 7.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children, 6-12. “Little Race Fans” (under 6) are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Military members in uniform are also admitted free. Military members in civvies (active-duty or retired, with ID) and senior citizens (60+, with ID) receive a $2 discount off the regular adult ticket price. “Family Packs,” which include two adult and two children’s tickets, are $25 – a savings of $5.

For this Saturday’s program, firefighters and EMS personnel are admitted free upon presentation of a department-issued ID. They also get a $2 discount on the purchase of additional adult tickets.

Twelve Langley Speedway regulars landed spots in the final NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national Top 500, which was released late last week.

In addition to C.E. Falk, who finished seventh, Langley’s representatives in the national rankings included: Danny Edwards Jr. (84th), Woody Howard (113th), Mark Wertz (134th), Greg Edwards (146th), Wesley Falk (275th), Dean Shiflett (303rd), Jeff Shiflett (341st), Paul DeBolt (407th), Matt Waltz (411th), Shawn Balluzzo (426th) and Kyle Waltz (447th).

In the final NASCAR Virginia state standings, Falk placed second to three-time national champ Philip Morris of Motor Mile Speedway in Radford.

Six support divisions take a turn in the spotlight when NASCAR action resumes at Langley Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 3. That evening’s feature slate includes: Atlantic Power Sweeping Super Streets, Med Express Urgent Care Super Trucks, Casey Cycle City INEX Legends, EZ Auto of Newport News UCARs, Standard Welding Pro 6s and Larry King Legal Services Enduros.

Langley’s “regular season” comes to a close on Saturday, Oct. 10. Special events on Oct. 17 and Oct. 24 will bring down the curtain on the 2009 campaign.

4Saturday, Oct. 17 – The 4th Annual Virginia State UCAR Championship and the 2nd Annual Super Street Showdown. An Enduro event rounds out the show.

4Saturday, Oct. 24 – The 4th Annual Night of Destruction. Things actually get going at 1 p.m., but “Afternoon of Destruction” wouldn’t sound quite as menacing.
