Lady Bulldogs sink in Ocean Lakes

The defense was there for King’s Fork High School’s softball team on Wednesday, but the offense was not. The Lady Bulldogs fell 3-0 to visiting Ocean Lakes High School.
Powering the Lady Dolphins’ offense was junior Jessica Goldyn, who went 3-for-4 with two triples and an inside-the-park home run.
“They’re a good team in their own right, but I just thought that we failed to show up offensively,” King’s Fork coach Richard Froemel said.
The Lady Bulldogs only mustered three hits.
Ocean Lakes has established itself as one of the better teams in the area, even getting a 6-5 win on Tuesday against highly regarded Landstown High School.
Froemel assured he was not trying to take anything away from the Lady Dolphins’ pitcher on Wednesday but said his team has faced tougher pitchers this season and done better.
For King’s Fork, senior Sydney Wash took the loss in the circle.
“Sydney’s pitching well enough for us to win, but we’re just not supporting her with runs, with offense,” Froemel said.
King’s Fork (7-6, 1-1) defeated visiting Lakeland High School on Thursday evening. Check later editions for details on this game.
