Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:
- Logan Montel, junior for King’s Fork High School soccer: She was a prolific force offensively on Thursday for the Lady Bulldogs, a fitting follow-up to having officially committed on April 11 to play college soccer for Christopher Newport University. In Thursday’s 8-1 victory over visiting Indian River High School, she produced four goals and one assist.
- Shawn Moose, junior for Suffolk Christian Academy baseball: He was key to his team achieving a 5-4 home victory on Friday against Summit Christian Academy in a rematch between the teams featured in last year’s conference tournament championship game. On Friday, he went 3-for-3 with a single, double and a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- Kieton Rivers, senior for Nansemond River High School baseball: In Friday’s 12-0 road win against Deep Creek High School, he went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. Despite a 6-3 home loss to Western Branch High School on Thursday, he contributed his first home run of the season. On April 11, he went 3-for-4 and played outstanding defense in an 8-7 win against visiting Jamestown High School.
