The Education Foundation for Isle of Wight County Schools will host its first Students First Golf Tournament on Saturday, April 18, at the Cypress Creek Golf Course in Smithfield.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Special invited celebrity guests include retired NFL running back George Rogers.

The foundation plans to use profits raised to assist the school division with its science, technology, engineering and mathematics initiative. The instructional leadership team is currently working to implement a plan to expand their current efforts. The additional funding received from the golf tournament will allow the school division to provide professional development and training opportunities for teachers and staff, as well as go toward the purchase of resources necessary for lessons.

“The Education Foundation board is excited about this fundraising opportunity,” said Board President Kirstin Cook. “It is our intention that the profits raised will help fund the STEM initiative. The school division employees are currently working to finalize their implementation plan, so we hope to be able to support their efforts.”

All players receive 18 holes of golf, riding cart, bagged lunch and a seated dinner. Super passes can be purchased for $25 and include two mulligans, entry into the putting contest and three raffle tickets. In addition, there are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available.
