Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

• Sterling McGee, sophomore for King’s Fork High School soccer: He scored seven goals this past week to help his team go 2-0 against its cross-city rivals. In a 5-0 road win on Thursday against Nansemond River High School, he put in four goals, and in Tuesday’s 5-0 home win against Lakeland High School, he scored three.
• Lauren Maddrey, junior Nansemond River High School softball: She helped her team achieve two big wins against Southeastern District opponents this past week to stay undefeated. In Wednesday’s 1-0 home win against King’s Fork High School, she scattered three hits and threw eight strikeouts. In Thursday’s 4-2 road win against Hickory High School, she scattered four hits with three strikeouts.
