A top-dog photo contest

For most of us, our pets are priceless.
During the next couple of weeks, we will celebrate readers’ priceless pets with a photo contest and a special section, both of which will help raise awareness of — and money for — the Suffolk Humane Society and its annual Mutt Strut, set for May 3, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arrowhead YMCA Conference and Outdoor Center on Kenyon Road.
The Suffolk News-Herald Priceless Pets Photo Pageant will give readers a chance to show off their fabulous felines, their cuddly canines or even their rascally reptiles for a chance at a trophy, a feature in an upcoming special section and more.
Visit www.suffolknewsherald.com and click on the Priceless Pets tab to register your pet’s photo, and be sure to share the link on Facebook, Twitter and among your friends at the dog park. The more people who vote for your pet’s photo, the better your chance of having your purty pet recognized and rewarded during Mutt Strut.
The winning photos also will be printed in the Priceless Pets special section, which the Suffolk News-Herald will publish April 30.
It costs only $10 to enter the contest, and $2 of that fee will be donated to Suffolk Humane. Visitors to the contest website also can register to walk at Mutt Strut for $20, and all of that registration fee will go to Suffolk Humane.
Mutt Strut is an afternoon of fun for the whole family — and their favorite pets — and this year’s event promises to be the best ever, with a big venue and more things to do than in any of the years past. It is the humane society’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and the Suffolk News-Herald is proud to be a major sponsor.
So have your pet pose nice and pretty, snap a digital photo and help us get ready for Mutt Strut with a top-notch photo contest for your top dog.
