SUFFOLK — Elizabeth Willis Burton, 66, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015. She was the daughter of the late George and Celia Willis.
Elizabeth was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and walked with Him daily. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, First Baptist Christian School, and the public school system. She spent her life devoted to serving others.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Walter Burton III; son, Adam Willis Burton; daughter, Erin Rogers Burton and fiancé, Donnie Early; sisters, Diane Willis Ellington and husband, Jim, and Alma Willis Alexander and husband, Phil; nieces, Lauren Alexander and Caroline Ellington; and nephew, Russell Alexander.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Ruffin Alphin officiating. A graveside service will conducted on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. at New Bern Memorial Cemetery in New Bern, N.C., with the Rev. Norman Evans officiating.
