Marie Shannon Walker

Marie Shannon Walker, 52, affectionately known as “Sturdy” was born July 27, 1962, to the late Bessie Mae Walker and Ernest Edward Walker Sr. in Southampton County. On Tuesday, March 24, 2015, Marie received her wings and transitioned to her heavenly home, where she was reunited with her parents and her siblings, Ernest Walker Jr., Meatrice Walker and Shanita Golden, all of whom preceded her in death.

Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory and to celebrate her life, her children, Sheron Walker, Katron Walker and Shannon Marie Walker; her siblings, Saundra Walker, Jacqueline Ford, Stephanie Hargrave (Antonio) and Vance Walker; her granddaughters, Maya and Jasmine Walker; a special friend: Elizabeth “Liz” Scott; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ms. Walker will be on view Monday, March 30, from noon to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Tuesday at New Mt. Joy FFLM Church, and she will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke- Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
