‘Show, but no dough’

Sen. John Cosgrove, a Republican who represents parts of the Suffolk in the Virginia Senate, was critical of Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s State of the Commonwealth address Wednesday.
“I got to tell you, he came up with an awful lot of ideas to spend an awful lot of money, and I don’t know where in the world he thinks he’s going to get it,” Cosgrove said.
“We have budgetary problems right now, and some of what the governor’s putting forward there’s no way the revenue will be available.”
Cosgrove said McAuliffe’s gun-control legislation and Medicaid expansion plans have no chance in the House of Delegates.
“He was entertaining, but as for substance … it was a lot of show with no dough.”
