Exhibit of Excellence seeks entries

The Suffolk Art League, in cooperation with the Suffolk Fine Arts Commission, will present the Exhibit of Excellence: Suffolk Student Art 2015 Feb. 3-27 at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., Suffolk.
Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who either live in or attend school in Suffolk are eligible to submit two artworks, in any medium, for jurying. This year’s juror will be Anne Bousquet, who is an artist, teacher and graphic designer living and working in Norfolk. In addition to working in various media including painting, printmaking and digital art, she has completed several commissions for public art in Norfolk. She holds an undergraduate degree from Old Dominion University and a graduate degree from Arizona State University. She is currently teaching at ODU, Virginia Wesleyan College and the Governor’s School for the Arts.
To submit artwork, students should bring their work to the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., Suffolk, on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is $625 in awards offered, including $200 Best in Show (given in honor of Dana Adams), $150 First Place, $100 Second Place and $75 Third Place.
There will be an opening reception and awards presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for students, their families and friends and the public.
