Prince Albert Powers Jr., 59, of 214 N. Seventh St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at his residence. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Prince Albert Powers Sr. and Elizabeth Johnson Guess. He was preceded in death by his son, Scharrod Powers.
He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He was a United States Navy veteran and was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory four daughters, Stephanie Lassiter (Mack III), Tara Lewis (Harvey IV), Chiquita Faulk (Walter), all of Suffolk, Tierra Powers, of Hampton; son, Michael Jordan (Jenny), of Garner, N.C.; sisters, Viola Barnes, of Suffolk, Rose Goins (Roy), of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Annette Blackwell-Jordan (Willie), Princess Powers, both of Suffolk, Angela Powers (Kevin), of Halifax, N.C.; brothers, Melvin Powers and Claude Thomas, both of Suffolk; 15 grandchildren; aunts, Lillian Maddrey, Lottie Smallwood and Laura Goodman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Dec. 22, 2014, at Bethlehem Christian Church officiated by Pastor Emanuel Myrick. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
