Tony Maurice Knight

Tony Maurice Knight of 114 Nansemond Drive, Suffolk, died Dec. 8, 2014, at his residence. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of Annie Deloris Knight and the late James Louis Knight. He spent a short time being reared by his cousin Samuel and Lillie Baker.
He was a 1975 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, where he was a member of the marching band. He also was a member of the Virginia State University marching band while attending there.
He was very artistic, a chef, dog lover and sang in several choirs in the surrounding area, including the Choir of Joy. He worked at Gwaltney of Smithfield for more than 25 years and was a supervisor. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Tony was a devoted member of East End Baptist Church.
Besides his mother, Annie Knight, he leaves to cherish his memory four sisters, Yvette Rene, Angela Anita Knight, Sharon Eloise Price (Jeffrey) and Cheryl Bryant; five brothers, Larry Milton Knight (Linda), James Calvin Knight (Angela), Johnnie Michael Knight (Diane), Gary Cornell Knight (Celestine) and Breon Pearson; aunts Gladys Jones, Irene Hall and Helen Brown; uncles Clifton Jones, Claude Hall and Keith Moore; a lifetime and special friend, Emma Richburg; his pride and joy dog, “Baby Girl”; other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at East End Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Milton R. Liverman. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014, at 5 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.
