SNH sets photo contest

Published 9:26 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014

One of the most popular publications produced each year at the Suffolk News-Herald is the photo calendar, which will be distributed in the paper Nov. 29, with extra copies available in our office while they last after that date.

This year, we’ve decided to raise the stakes a bit and offer readers a chance to participate, both by providing potential content and by helping us choose the photos we’ll use.

Suffolk News-Herald readers can participate by visiting www.tinyurl.com/SNHcalendar between now and midnight Nov. 11. Those who would like to submit a photo for consideration can do so by completing a simple registration form. Those who would like to vote for their favorite photos can do so at the same link. Both submissions and voting are free.

The six most popular entries when voting closes at midnight Nov. 11 will be published in the 2015 Suffolk News-Herald calendar. The most popular submission will earn special placement on the cover, along with a $100 gift certificate.

Please note that higher-resolution photos will print better, and photos taken with a cellphone generally will not print well. You should upload only full-sized, unedited JPG files to the contest server.

Also, because of the way the calendar is formatted, landscape photos (wide, not tall) are the only ones that will work.

Visit www.tinyurl.com/SNHcalendar for the official rules, or call Res Spears, editor, at 934-9616.

Get your entries in soon, and make sure your friends know how to vote. You can vote once per day.
