Society to raffle Bryan guitar

Country music star Luke Bryan’s Fan Club is know as the Nut House, which seems appropriate for a city such as Suffolk, particularly in October.
Suffolk Humane Society is nuts about Luke Bryan, too, especially after the star donated an autographed Gibson guitar, as well as CDs and liner notes — the inserts that come in CD cases — to help the charity raise funds for its mission of helping homeless dogs and cats in Suffolk.
The humane society will sell raffle tickets for the guitar for $10 each until Feb. 7, 2015, when the winner will be announced at the society’s Paws for the Arts fundraiser.
Jason Fawcett, a friend of the performer after being invited on stage to dance with him at a concert last year, and his father, Councilman Roger Fawcett, arranged the donation, according to a news release from the society.
“We can’t contain our excitement about having such a special item from such a talented singer, songwriter and performer who also has a big heart,” said Michele Thames, executive director of Suffolk Humane. “We hope people will take a chance at winning this very special guitar, buy tickets for holiday gifts/stocking stuffers, appreciation gifts and help homeless animals at the same time.”
Bryan’s popularity is on a meteoric rise, with him having been named the 2013 “Entertainer of the Year” for the Academy of Country Music and Billboard Magazine’s Top County Artist, as well as having the Top Country Album.
Tickets will be on sale at the Suffolk Humane wine booth at Peanut Fest this weekend. After the festival is over, tickets can be purchased online at www.suffolkhumanesociety.com, at Mike Duman Auto Sales, at the Suffolk Humane office at 4300 Nansemond Parkway, and from humane society members.
