Keisha S. Roberts, 39, of 292 Burnetts Way, Suffolk, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Portsmouth and the daughter of Abdullah Mahdee of Portsmouth and Geraldine Sawyer of Franklin.

She was a 1994 graduate of Southampton High School and 1998 graduate of Virginia State University. Keisha received a master’s degree from Cambridge College. She was currently employed as a guidance counselor at Lakeland High School. She was a member of New First Baptist Church and its combined choir and was the church secretary. Keisha was a member of the Franklin/Tri-County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Besides her parents, she leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Randy D. Roberts; one son, Derrick D. Roberts; two grandchildren; one brother, Jeffrey Sawyer, of Franklin; mother-in-law, Mildred Roberts; and a host of other family, students, colleagues and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at New First Baptist Church, 1105 Hosier Road, Suffolk, officiated by the Rev. Lemuel Greene. The Rev. Steven Cheeks is pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be held Sunday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at New First Baptist Church, during which the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will have their Omega Omega Service. The family will receive friends at 292 Burnetts Way, Suffolk, and the home of Michael and Yvonne Sparks, 4012 Lisa Cove Way, Chesapeake. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
