Kelsi Nykole Polson, a homeschooled student, graduated high school two years early while doing dual credit work and will start as a sophomore at Chowan University in the fall. She will major in biology with the goal of becoming an oncologist, inspired by her late father’s battle with cancer.

Her parents are Beth Polson, the late Alan Polson and Lee Joyner. Her grandparents are D.L. Spivey Jr. and Connie Truitt, and the late Leroy and Shirley Polson.

Her siblings are Kierstyn and Brandyn Polson.
