An injured bear is in the care of biologists from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries after being removed from a tree on Bradford Drive in the College Square neighborhood on Wednesday.
About 11 a.m., emergency communications received a call about the bear, which was near the 5900 block. An animal control officer, several Suffolk police officers and biologists from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries responded and determined the bear was injured. They tranquilized it and removed it from the tree about 2 p.m.
A bear sighting also took place earlier in the morning, around 7:30 a.m., in the 6000 block of Old College Drive. Emergency communications also took that call, but the bear made its way back to a wooded area.
