Navy Seaman Apprentice Kristopher Jordan, son of Alvin and Renee Jordan Sr. of Suffolk, along with approximately 6,000 other sailors and Marines stationed aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, have returned to Naval Station Norfolk, marking the end of the ship’s nine-month deployment to the U.S. 5th and 6th Fleet areas of operations.

While deployed, Truman conducted a full range of operations, ranging from maritime security operations and multinational exercises to providing air support for Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Truman also conducted integrated operations with the French Navy’s Charles de Gaulle Strike Group over a five-week period in the Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea and Arabian Gulf.

Squadrons assigned to Carrier Air Wing 3 flew 2,902 combat flights, totaling more than 16,450 hours in support of OEF.

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group consists of several deployed units, including Commander, Carrier Strike Group 10 staff; CVW-3; 1st Combined Destroyer Squadron staff comprising U.S. and Royal Navy personnel; guided-missile destroyers USS Bulkeley and USS Mason; guided-missile cruisers USS Gettysburg and USS San Jacinto; and fast combat support ship USNS Arctic.
