Bridgewater student to compete for acting scholarship

A local Bridgewater College student has been nominated to compete for the Irene Ryan Acting Award Scholarship, which is administered annually by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
Desiree Elliott, a sophomore business administration major from Windsor, was nominated for her performance in the student-written and -directed play, “The Bright Smile,” by Bridgewater College senior Talaya Heard, of District Heights, Md.
The KCACTF Regional Festival competition will be held in January 2015 at Cleveland State University.
Founded in 1969, KCACTF is a national theater program with the goal of encouraging, recognizing and celebrating the finest and most diverse work produced in university and college theater.
The Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships provide recognition, honor and financial assistance to outstanding student performers wishing to pursue further education.
