The Lakeland High School baseball team battled host Denbigh High School in what was ultimately a tight game, with the Cavaliers emerging victorious, 9-8.

The Cavaliers had eight hits and four errors, compared to the Patriots’ seven hits and six errors.

Senior Tyler Lilley improved to 3-3 on the mound and produced two runs batted in and a run scored at the plate.

Senior Ryan Stalnaker went 2-for-5 with two runs scored, and senior Jefferson Knight had two RBIs and three runs scored.

Lakeland (6-10, 4-4) doubled its previous win total this past week. It will return to action on Thursday at home against Phoebus High School.
