Collision sends two to hospital

Firefighters work to free a woman from the wreckage of her vehicle after a collision at the intersection of Manning and Copeland roads Friday evening.

A head-on collision closed the intersection of Manning and Copeland roads for about two hours Friday evening.

The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. The male driver of a white Ford truck, which overturned, was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. The female driver of the second vehicle, a Jeep Liberty, had to be extricated from the vehicle and was ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, also with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
