The King’s Fork High School girls’ soccer team continued its new winning ways on Thursday, experiencing little trouble en route to an 8-0 mercy-rule blowout of visiting Lake Taylor High School.

While the Lady Bulldogs needed the second half to put away Western Branch High School the day before, they compiled a 7-0 lead against Lake Taylor by halftime.

“Lake Taylor was a team without much experience but gave a good effort,” King’s Fork head coach Jason Stump stated in a text message. “They were well coached. Our team played with class and respect for Lake Taylor’s situation, and I’m as proud of that as the win. It gave us the opportunity to try out a few new scenarios, as well.”

Sophomore Logan Montel led the offensive charge for the Lady Bulldogs with four goals and an assist. Freshman Becca Washburn recorded two goals and an assist, her sister, junior Hannah Washburn, scored a goal, and junior Lindsay Ransome had an assist.

In a mishap, the Lady Titans also scored a goal on themselves.

Once again showing the growth the Lady Bulldogs have undergone in a year, they turned the tables against a talented Western Branch team on Wednesday.

“Last year, they beat us by the slaughter rule,” Stump stated. But this year, King’s Fork pulled away for a 6-2 triumph.

Ransome scored four times, freshman Cydney Nichols had a goal, and Becca Washburn added one, as well.

Stump stated his team had to work some of spring break off during the first half, as the score was tied 2-2 at halftime.

He started six freshmen against the Lady Bruins.

King’s Fork (6-3-1, 1-1) is scheduled to host Franklin High School on Thursday.
