Answer: The work on Kings Highway is to install a new, 12-inch force main to deliver wastewater to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District system. It is part of the city’s G. Robert House Jr. Water Treatment Plant Solids Handling Expansion project, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

The main is being installed along Kings Highway and Sleepy Hole Road to the city’s existing sewer force main.

Once the project is complete, the city will repave the roads, a project anticipated for the summer, Klink said.

Weather events during the winter affected the schedule of the work, she added.
