Chargers fall in home opener

The Isle of Wight Academy baseball team dropped its first home game of the season 4-2 to Peninsula Catholic High School on Thursday afternoon.

The Chargers took a 2-1 lead out of the first inning, but Peninsula Catholic went ahead in the third and added one more in the fifth.

Reid Taylor took the loss for IWA, which dropped to 1-2 overall. Peninsula’s Josh Jones went the distance for the win, scattering eight hits and stranding nine runners, including six in scoring position.
