Jesse James Bass

On March 2, 2014, Jesse James Bass went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer. Jesse was a resident of Franklin.
Jesse was born on Oct. 31, 1977, in Suffolk. He was employed by International Paper for 12 years and then by Parker Oil and Propane Company. He attended Franklin Church of God.
Jesse truly loved life, and he treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Jesse is preceded in death by his father, Jerry F. Bass Sr., and father-in-law Jimmy Boyette.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kimberly B. Bass, of Franklin; his daughter, Cooper Addison Bass, of Franklin; his mother, Sherry Fulk and stepfather Bill, of Suffolk; sister, Tracy Bass Kerlee and husband, Sean, of Suffolk; sister, Kimberly Bass, of Suffolk; brother, Jerry F. Bass Jr. and wife, Kristen, of Suffolk; mother-in-law, Debbie Boyette, of Franklin; sister-in-law, Julie McMahan and husband, Brandon, of Franklin; nieces, Cheyenne Eure, Raven Oliver, Skylar Oliver, Fallon Oliver, Payton Kerlee, Morgan Bass, Brooklyn Bass and Layla Bass; and nephews, Lincoln Kerlee and Ethan McMahan.
A funeral will be conducted Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory in Suffolk, by Pastor James Ashby, Natalie Ashby and Jimmy Aleshire, with burial in Somerton United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the residence of Kimberly and Jesse Bass.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James Ponder, the many doctors and nurses at Duke Cancer Center and Southampton Memorial Hospice, and his cousin Lisa Bass Cisco for her help and comfort during Jesse’s illness.
