Ida Helen Flythe, 87, of 203 Beech St., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 30, 2011. She was born on Sept. 2, 1923 to the late Rev. Robert R. Rogers and Helen Saunders Rogers in Nansemond County, Va.

She entered into holy matrimony to the late Hersey Flythe Sr., and to this union two sons were born.

She was a devoted and faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Ida leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory two sons, Buryl L. Flythe Sr. and Hersey Flythe Jr. (Carolyn); grandchildren, Buryl L. Flythe Jr., Jamila Flythe, Chevroon Flythe, Artamus K. Flythe and Minelaa A. Flythe; great-grandchildren, Jada, Janaii and Jalea Taylor, Jason L. Flythe, Harmani M. Morgan, Jamiyah A. Brewer, Kayden L. Flythe, Armia I. Flythe and Antarrios J. Flythe; and many family and friends.

Ms. Flythe will be on view Thursday, May 5 at the funeral home noon to 6 p.m. and the family will greet visitors 6 to 8 p.m. A service of remembrance will take place on Friday, May 6, at Oak Grove Baptist Church at noon.
