Suffolk golfers going low

The father-son golf team of George and Harris Fischer have carded two of the top rounds Monday and Tuesday at the 2010 Special Olympics USA National Games in Lincoln, Neb.
In a nine-hole, alternating-shot format, the Fischers shot 49 on Monday, the seventh-best score out of the 27-team field. The Fischers shot 48 Tuesday, to place fourth out of day two’s rounds. The final round was set for Wednesday at Mahoney Golf Club.
Harris, 17, attends Nansemond River. This is the second summer they’ve played in the USA National Games. When closer to home, the Fischers practice and play at Sleepy Hole Golf Course and Cedar Point Country Club.
Including athletes, coaches, volunteers and spectators, the USA National Games are bringing more than 50,000 people to Lincoln, Neb. this week.
