Bulldogs drop Phantoms in rematch

King’s Fork High School played at Phoebus High School on Monday and avenged a narrow loss earlier this season to the Phantoms by winning 54-48.
“Having everybody healthy was a big key,” Bulldogs head coach Josh Worrell said. “This was (Deshaun Wethington’s) first game back.”
He credited Wethington with making a difference on both ends of the floor. The sophomore ended up with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists.
Another factor for why King’s Fork was able to turn the tables on the Phantoms came from “our guys just playing together as group instead of worrying about who was going to score,” Worrell said.
Junior Dale Roscoe also had 14 points to go with seven rebounds. Junior Tyese Pressley added nine points, hitting a big three-pointer with about 1:15 remaining that put King’s Fork up by five. After that, Phoebus never got any closer.
The Bulldogs’ free throw shooting percentage was an impressive 81.5, as they went 22-for-27. It was important since poor shooting at the foul line hurt them last time against the Phantoms.
On Tuesday evening, King’s Fork (10-7, 3-2) hosted Heritage High School in the Bulldogs’ first meeting against the only remaining undefeated in the Ironclad Conference.
