Suffolk police are asking for help from the public in apprehending two men who were involved in the theft of Dewalt tools from the Lowe’s store on North Main Street.
According to a press release from the city, two white males entered the store through the lumber entrance on Jan. 18, talked for a while and then took two Dewalt tool combo kits through the main entrance without paying for them.
A witness observed a red four-door hatchback that is believed to have left the scene with the men in it, Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink stated in a press release.
The man who had the cart with the tools in it while they were in the store was wearing a camouflage Virginia Tech hat, jeans and a white sweatshirt with a design on the front. The other man was wearing a red Elmo hat, a long-sleeved back shirt and camouflage overalls.
Police are also looking for a third man as a person of interest in the case, according to Klink. He is an older man and was wearing several layers of clothing at the time, including a brown jacket, a gray jacket and a plaid shirt. He was wearing a camouflage hat with a business logo on the front, and green pants.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line do not have to give their names or appear in court. If information leads to an arrest, the caller could qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
