The Suffolk Humane Society and Suffolk Animal Care plan to celebrate the month of love with a pair of adopt-a-thons that seek to connect residents with pets that need their love.
The first event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 1 at Suffolk Animal Care, 124 Forest Glen Drive. The second will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Petsmart in Northern Suffolk, 6243 College Drive.
“Most of us give roses or chocolates for Valentine’s Day,” said Lee Murphy, director of adoptions at Suffolk Humane. “Imagine giving a gift that keeps on giving, one that supplies unconditional, never-ending love. That’s all these animals really want to do, anyway. Give the gift of a forever-home to a pet this Valentine’s Day season and let the love run deeper than flowers and sugar.”
The Suffolk Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the welfare of companion animals in the community through sponsoring spay/neuter programs, placing homeless animals in loving permanent homes, and providing quality humane education with an emphasis on responsible pet ownership.
