Southwestern Elementary School was evacuated Monday afternoon when staff smelled wires burning in a classroom, a city spokeswoman said.

The call came in just before 3 p.m. as students were boarding buses to go home for the day. Engine 7, Tanker 1, Rescue 1 and Medic 7A responded, and the smell was determined to be coming from an HVAC unit, city spokeswoman Diana Klink said.

There were no injuries in the incident.
