Phillip Lee and Judith Taylor Saunders, of Suffolk, announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Marie, to Theodore ‘Dory’ Fields, son of Thomas and Carolyn Fields, of Norfolk.

Miss Saunders is the granddaughter of Mack and Ruth Saunders, of Suffolk, and the late James Dalton and Helen Rountree Taylor, of Virginia Beach.

Mr. Fields is the grandson of the late Ernest Linwood and Zelma Sawyer, of Creeds, Virginia Beach, and the late Theodore Edwards and Doris Jenkins Fields, of Norfolk.

Miss Saunders graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science in May 2010. Mr. Fields graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School in February 2012.

The double ring candlelight ceremony will be held at West End Baptist Church, Suffolk, on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Skip Irby officiating. A reception, which will include dinner and dancing, will follow in the Nansemond Ballroom at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Following their honeymoon, the couple plans to reside in Suffolk.
