Chargers go 1-2 in holiday tourney

The Isle of Wight Academy boys’ basketball team sandwiched a win over its host between two losses during the Peninsula Catholic Holiday Classic that ran from Dec. 26 to Dec. 28.
On Thursday, the Chargers played well in the first quarter against Hampton Roads Academy. They led until the 2:46 mark, when the Navigators tied the game at 13 and then scored 10 of the next 11 points to take the lead for good. HRA won 80-60.
IWA was led by sophomore forward Bryce Casey with a game-high 15 points and junior center Adam Webb with 12 points.
On Friday, the Chargers used a season-high six three-pointers to defeat host Peninsula Catholic High School 61-45. IWA senior guard Justice Fuller converted three three-pointers in the first half, contributing to his team-leading 16 points, his highest tally of the season.
In the final game of the Classic on Saturday, Isle of Wight fell to Hampton Christian High School for the second time in three weeks, this time by a score of 65-44.
The Warriors were draining threes, several coming from junior guard Evan Dougood, who ended up with 27 points. Junior forward Bradley Parker also supplied 22 points.
Bryce Casey led the Chargers with 19 points while senior forward Gage Rogers added 10.
Isle of Wight (2-9) hosts Williamsburg Christian Academy on Friday.
