Don’t just resolve to do it

Resolutions vary, but among the most popular are those concerning weight loss, nutrition and fitness.
But 88 percent of resolutions are broken within 90 days.
Following are some ideas to help ensure success and make 2014 your best year ever. Use this information to help you meet your goals and stick to your plans.
4Be positive: Forget resolutions. One-hundred-percent intention equals 100-percent results. Create a positive lifestyle. Watch your thoughts and self-talk. A life coach is great for helping you create positive change in your life.
4Get support: A great way to avoid excuses is to get support from family and friends. Be specific, and ask for the help you really need. But remember, you create the experience.
4Reward yourself: Don’t be afraid to give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done. Get a massage or buy a new book or a new pair of jeans.
4Be accountable: Do you have a goal? Write it down. Make sure your goal is a smart one — a real one. Find a trusted person to help hold you accountable or hire a life coach or fitness specialist.
4Stop having “cheat” meals: You don’t have to have protein shakes and chicken all the time, but you should make healthy choices. Eat clean and healthy, but when you get those cravings, make the choice to have a small portion that offers satisfaction without regrets. It’s not cheating. Hire a holistic nutritionist to help you find satisfying healthy foods that work for your desired lifestyle.
4Move. Stay active: Movement is absolutely necessary for our bodies. Go for a walk, take a yoga class, rake the yard, hire a personal trainer. Just do it.
Exercise will also improve your overall mental and physical health. Increased physical activity can lower high blood pressure, cholesterol and improve cardio respiratory function. Exercise can also reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
