A total of 32 provisional votes in Suffolk will be decided at noon today at a meeting of the Electoral Board.

Provisional ballots are on the radar in the cliffhanger attorney general’s race.

As of Thursday afternoon, Republican Mark Obenshain held the edge on Democrat Mark Herring by 777 votes — a scant three-hundredths of a percent of all votes cast in the race.

Suffolk Voter Registrar Susan Saunders said the Electoral Board will meet at 11 a.m. today at the office, 440 Market St., to decide whether to count the provisional ballots. Those who cast such ballots have until noon to bring a copy of an acceptable identification to the Electoral Board office.

Even if a voter does not come, the board will still decide whether to count the ballot, Saunders said.

According to Kenric Ward of Watchdog.org, thousands of provisional votes remain outstanding throughout the state and could make the difference in the attorney general’s race. Election results are due to be finalized Nov. 25.
