A website by a local marketing business will give free advice on how to spend your evenings and weekends this Christmas season.

This is the seventh year of www.christmasinsuffolk.com, said Tom Powell, president of the Addison Group.

“This is my Christmas gift to the community,” Powell said. “It’s really an online and mobile-friendly, now, location to find out what’s going on during Christmas.”

The website will list holiday-related events, worship services, charity giving suggestions and more all in the same place.

“Most events have no money for marketing,” Powell said. “Especially in light of the fact mobile marketing is rampant, this gives them another place to be able to optimize their event so it becomes easier to find.”

Powell said events that are already published elsewhere, such as on the city’s website, will be automatically included. Other event organizers can submit their events on the website.

The website already lists the Grand Illumination on Nov. 23 at 6 p.m., the Downtown Suffolk Holiday Open House from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 and the Holiday Parade on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m.

New this year is the fact that the website has a mobile version. Powell said it will aid people who are making plans while out and about.

“Most people plan their stuff on the fly now,” he said. “All that stuff is right in my hand, and I don’t have to do anything.”
